Road Bank Usage & Uneven Surface Supplemental
January 2023 until Further Notice
This is a supplemental notice to Member on their safe usage of the Club Lake in respect to the lake banks until further notice.
This notice will remain in place until further notice or until bank repair is undertaken, whichever is earliest.
The Road Bank is now closed to the Members of the Public by order of Essex Wildlife Trust, but Club Members can still access the Road Bank to fish via a locked gate at the car park end. To use this facility:
YOU MUST Lock the entrance Gate immediately after passing through.
DO NOT allow ANY member of the Public Access to the Road Bank Area.
This includes any family, friends who are not fishing.
Areas along the bank have been cordoned-off for Health & Safety reasons. Please follow the signage and keep out of those areas. Access to the swims should be made by walking along the top of the bank, keeping away from the cordoned off areas. Walk carefully as the ground surface is uneven in places.
If you must retrieve any equipment / tackle that may have encroached into any cordoned off area, then use suitable equipment to retrieve without entering the cordoned area. If unable to do so – advise a bailiff or contact a member of the committee to arrange safe retrieval.
Any member found in contravention of above instructions will have their membership revoked.
Where a bank is uneven be mindful of where the hazards are and how you step around them. When Night Fishing ensure that you always wear a Head Light which can easily be switched on before moving from your stationary position.
If you feel it is unsafe to fish from a swim move to one that is safer.
If you find any new trip / fall hazards in any of the banks – move to another safer swim and report the hazard immediately to a bailiff or Committee Member via social media or phone.
