Club Codes Of Conduct
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ALL MEMBERS
​
1. Club Members from now on in this document will be known as Members, are persons that have given the requested personal details and financial costs as necessary to the Club.
2. Members will promote the highest standards of sportsmanship, fair play, see that the spirit of angling is upheld and be mindful of the Constitution of the Club.
3. Members will only fish in a manner that is fair and lawful. They must not bring the club into disrepute. 4. Members will be brought before General Committee if they allow their standard of behaviour to fall below accepted standards as in abusive, threatening and obscene behaviour and/or language.
5. Members to respect the right of privacy and solitude of other anglers and remember to stay within the boundaries of their peg.
6. Members must be aware of anglers fishing opposite banks. Members have no fishing rights beyond half way when the opposite peg is occupied.
7. Members must fish and conduct themselves in a manner that causes no offence and avoid disturbance of other anglers, water users and Members of the public. Noise levels, either verbal or otherwise and movement to be kept to a minimum.
8. It is the responsibility of all Club Members to read and familiarise themselves with the Constitution, Rules and Codes of Conduct of Lee Chapel Fishing Club. Ignorance will be no defence. Remember the Rules, like the Club, are always evolving and amendments will be published to Members on the Club Website, Lake Notice Board and email.
9. Members that cannot accept and agree to abide by the Rules and Codes of Conduct should stand down from The Club.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS

1. Committee Members agree to:-

Represent the best interests of the club and not represent any other interest/matter that may be contrary to the best interests of the sport of angling.

Abide by all resolutions democratically agreed by the General Committee.
2. Every elected Committee Member agrees to act for the benefit of The Club. The Committee Member agrees to use his vote in a manner that they deem is in the best interest of The Club.
3. Outside of the General Committee meetings the Committee Member will support and not criticise any motion or decision properly discussed and voted on in General Committee even if they were not in agreement of the decision. All Committee Members will be able to have a frank and meaningful discussion during the meeting, but once the democratic decision has been made the topic or motion cannot be raised again unless circumstances deem the decision was not in the best interest of The Club.
4. No Committee Member can publicise any matter in the name of The Club unless that Committee Member has been nominated the spokesman for The Club but be mindful of rule 3. This should not prevent a Committee Member from expressing their own views at private meetings, but they must make it totally clear that these are personal views and will not necessarily be adopted by the General Committee. 5. Members of the General Committee must agree to:

Accept and comply with this Code of Conduct in its entirety with no exceptions or amendment.

If a Committee Member feels at any time that they cannot comply or agree with this Code of Conduct they should consult with the Chairman in confidence in an attempt to resolve the problem.

If no favourable result is concluded, then the Committee Member must stand down from the General Committee.
BAILIFFS OBJECTIVES, RESPONSIBILITIES and CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Bailiffs are officials of The Club and should be treated as such by the Membership. They are the Clubs representatives on the bank and will carry Bailiff Cards.
2. Bailiffs will carry & produce their Bailiff Cards upon request or to identify themselves to Members, Police, Environment Agency Bailiffs etc.
3. Bailiffs should check for signs of pollution and/or fish in distress and report any occurrence promptly to the General Committee.
4. Bailiffs should offer sound and practical advice to Members and help create a friendly, responsible Club. 5. Bailiffs MUST report any abuse to them by any Member to the Committee as soon as is practical with full details of the incident so the Committee can review and action as appropriate.
6. Bailiffs should look for signs of other problems, otter/bird predation, and broken gates/fences, fly tipping, poaching etc. and report to the General Committee any problems for consideration and action. Minor issues, observations should be noted in the Bailiff Log Book
7. In the case of poaching fish or stealing, the Bailiffs MUST inform the General Committee immediately with a view to informing the Environment Agency and Police.
8. Bailiffs will inspect Membership Cards. Any person without a current Membership Card MUST be asked to leave.
9. Bailiffs MUST note the Membership numbers of those fishing in the Bailiff Log Book.
10. Bailiffs are authorised to check tackle, including terminal tackle already in the water, to see that it complies with Club Rules. These checks MUST be conducted sensitively.
11. Bailiffs MUST point out any rule infringement to the member which should rectify the matter. Serious and repeated cases will be reported to the General Committee for action. Bailiffs MUST note the rule infringement(s) and Member concerned in the Bailiff Log Book.
12. Bailiffs should not place themselves in dangerous or harmful situations. If serious conflict arises they should walk away and report the matter to the General Committee.
13. Bailiffs should ensure the Lake is kept in good order and litter free.
14. They should encourage all Members fishing the venue to assist in the task of litter removal and to also adopt good bank practices.
15. Bailiffs are responsible for regular brief reports to be noted in the Bailiff Log Book, including but not limited to water conditions, number of anglers fishing and notable catches.
16. Bailiffs of The Club shall receive the benefit of free Membership and to fish in the Club Close Season
whilst undertaking their duties.
COMPLAINTS AND GRIEVANCES

1. All complaints and grievances must be made in writing to the Chairman and be dealt with in the first instance by the General Committee. An initial response or acknowledgment will normally be made within 2 weeks.
2. Members may apply to have their case heard before the General Committee.
3. All Members have the right to a hearing before the General Committee and to offer any relevant information.
4. Members making false accusations and/or statements against any other member may be suspended pending investigation.
5. Members treating other Members and officials with contempt may be suspended pending investigation.
6. The General Committee has the right to suspend or dismiss any Member who, in the opinion of the General Committee breaks the rules, or acts in a manner not in keeping with the good name and interests of The Club.
